Reaching For The Light
From the CD "Feathers and Tributes"

Somewhere In The South South West
Sunshine Soaked And Rainfall Blessed
Stands A Forest Strong And Tall
The Finest Of Them All

And I have slept by shallow streams
And dreamed my Eucalyptus dreams
And woken to the greys and greens
Just reaching for the light

Spiders Web In Morning Dew
Flash Of Red Tail Cockatoo
Unclenched fist of bracken fern
Every twist and every turn

Leads me to this earth I love
And all the majesty above
Nothing wrong and nothing right
Just reaching for the light

And we are like those forests tall
We bear our fruit we age we fall
We grow so big from seeds so small
Just reaching for the light

I had a friend whose life of ease
Was cut down by some rogue disease
But he railed against adversities
And came back to the light

Some will let their lives go cold
Values lost or cheaply sold
Growing sad and growing old
Understories never told

Our lives can never stay the same
Turn around the seasons changed
There’s nothing lost and nothing gained
Just reaching for the light
